Configuring Lesson Rates
Lesson rates define how much you charge for lessons. Clefora uses these when calculating invoices. You can set rates via pricing templates and override them for individual students.
Pricing templates
Section titled “Pricing templates”Pricing templates let you define reusable rate configurations for your studio:
- Open the Hub and go to Pricing Templates in the sidebar.
- Click New Template.
- Enter a name (e.g. “Standard Piano Rate”) and the rate per lesson.
- Save the template.
You can create multiple templates for different scenarios (e.g. different instruments, durations, or student types).
Assigning rates to students
Section titled “Assigning rates to students”Each student’s billing is configured on their profile:
- Open the student’s profile.
- In the billing section, select a billing model (Termly in Advance, Per Lesson in Arrears, or Manual Tracking).
- Set the lesson rate — either by linking a pricing template or entering a custom rate.
- Save.
How rates are used
Section titled “How rates are used”Your configured rates feed into Clefora’s billing features:
- Invoice generation — When you create an invoice, Clefora uses the student’s lesson rate to calculate the total.
- Lesson cost display — Each lesson shows its cost based on the applicable rate.
- Custom overrides — You can set a different rate for individual students without affecting your templates.
Billing models
Section titled “Billing models”Each student can be configured with one of three billing models:
| Model | How it works |
|---|---|
| Termly in Advance | One invoice for all lessons in a term, sent at the start |
| Per Lesson in Arrears | Invoices generated after each completed lesson |
| Manual Tracking | You create invoices manually as needed |
See Billing models explained for a detailed comparison.
