Tracking Student Skills and Milestones
Once you have a curriculum framework assigned to a student, you can track their progress through each skill. Clefora makes it easy to record achievements during or after lessons and gives both you and parents a clear view of how the student is developing.
Assigning a framework to a student
Section titled “Assigning a framework to a student”Before you can track skills, you need to assign a curriculum framework:
- Open the student’s profile.
- Go to the Progress tab.
- Click Assign curriculum and select a framework from your list.
- Click Save.
A student can have multiple frameworks assigned simultaneously (e.g., one for exam preparation and one for general musicianship).
Marking skill status
Section titled “Marking skill status”Each skill in an assigned framework can be set to one of five statuses:
- Not started (default) — The student has not yet begun working on this skill.
- Introduced — The skill has been introduced but the student is in the early stages.
- Developing — The student is actively working on and improving this skill.
- Secure — The student has a solid grasp of this skill.
- Exam ready — The student can demonstrate this skill confidently under exam conditions.
- Open the student’s profile and go to Progress.
- Expand a level and component to see individual skills.
- Click the status indicator next to a skill to cycle through the five statuses.
- Changes are saved automatically.
- Open the student’s profile and tap Progress.
- Tap a level to expand it, then tap a component.
- Tap a skill to change its status.
- Changes sync in real time.
Progress charts
Section titled “Progress charts”Clefora generates progress charts that visualise how far a student has come within each framework. Charts show the percentage of skills completed per component and overall.
- On the Hub, progress charts appear on the student’s Progress tab as bar charts.
- On the Mobile app, a simplified progress ring shows overall completion.
Parents also see these charts on their dashboard, keeping them informed without you needing to send separate updates.
Milestones
Section titled “Milestones”Milestones are goals you manually create for a student to mark significant achievements or targets (e.g., “Complete Grade 3 scales”, “Perform at recital”). They are not generated automatically from skill progress.
To create a milestone:
- Open the student’s profile.
- Go to the Progress tab.
- Click Add milestone and enter a title, optional description, and optional target date.
You can update a milestone’s status to In progress or Completed as the student progresses. Milestones are highlighted on the student’s progress view and, if notifications are enabled, the parent receives a notification when a milestone is completed.
Viewing history
Section titled “Viewing history”Every skill status change is recorded with a timestamp. You can view the history of a skill to see when it was started and when it was achieved. This is useful for tracking the pace of progress over time.
