Before the Lesson: Student Context
Walking into a lesson prepared makes a real difference. Clefora gives you a quick summary of each student’s recent activity so you can pick up right where you left off.
What to review before a lesson
Section titled “What to review before a lesson”When you open an upcoming lesson or a student’s profile, you can see:
- Previous lesson notes — What you covered last time, including any public notes for the parent and your private notes.
- Practice goals — The goals you set after the last lesson and whether the student (or parent) has marked any as completed.
- Current repertoire — The pieces the student is actively working on.
- Upcoming exam — If the student has an exam entry, you see the exam board, grade, and date.
Accessing the pre-lesson summary
Section titled “Accessing the pre-lesson summary”- Go to Calendar and click the upcoming lesson.
- The lesson detail panel shows the student’s last lesson summary, active practice goals, and current repertoire in a sidebar or below the lesson details.
- Open the lesson from your calendar.
- Scroll down to see the student context section with the same information.
Using context to plan the lesson
Section titled “Using context to plan the lesson”Here are some ways to use the pre-lesson information:
- Practice goals not completed — Revisit the technique or piece that was assigned. Ask the student what they found difficult.
- All goals completed — Move on to new material or increase the difficulty.
- Exam approaching — Focus the lesson on exam repertoire, scales, and sight-reading preparation.
- Private notes from last time — Remind yourself of teaching points you wanted to follow up on.
