Understanding lesson summaries and digests
After each lesson, your child’s teacher can send a digest — a summary of what was covered, new practice goals, and notes on your child’s progress. Digests keep you informed about your child’s musical development without needing to attend the lesson.
What is in a digest
Section titled “What is in a digest”A typical digest includes:
- Lesson date and duration — When the lesson took place and how long it lasted.
- What was covered — A summary of topics, pieces, and techniques worked on during the lesson.
- Practice goals — New goals for the week ahead, such as specific pieces to practise, techniques to focus on, or listening tasks.
- Progress notes — The teacher’s observations on how your child is developing.
